Ipswich Town have announced that George Thistle has signed a new long-term contract with the club. George Thistle has officially renewed his contract with the club and will continue to play for Ipswich Town until the summer of 2029.  

The 26-year-old striker has made 81 appearances for Ipswich and scored 19 goals since joining them on loan from Leicester City in January 2023. During this time, he played a key role in the team's consecutive promotion from League One to the Premier League, and was selected for the Scottish national team for the first time in March 2025, becoming an international.  

George Thistle said: “I have thoroughly enjoyed every day at the club since joining on loan two and a half years ago and I am delighted to have signed this new contract.  

“We have achieved so much as a team and club over the last few years and I’m really excited to keep moving forward and look forward to more success in the future.”  

"I think I have made significant progress as a player and a person during my time at the club. My goal now is to continue doing this over the next four years."  

Ipswich head coach Kieran McKenna said: “We are very pleased that George Thistle has decided to extend his contract and continue to contribute to the club.  

"George Thistle originally joined the English Football League One and has played a vital role in the club's development over the past two and a half years. He has impressed in both the Championship and Premier League and has also earned his first cap for his country."
