Brentford striker Igor Thiago has confirmed he is in good physical shape and full of energy ahead of the 2025-26 Premier League season. The 24-year-old Brazilian, who missed most of last season due to injury, has traveled with the team to Portugal for pre-season training and scored in a 1-1 friendly draw against Portuguese Primeira Liga side Gil Vicente.  

In a pre-season friendly, Igor Thiago played for Brentford and scored in a 1-1 draw against Portuguese Premier League side Gil Vicente. With his good form, he is confident that he can continue his scoring streak for Brentford in the new season.  

Igor Thiago said: "I am in excellent form at the moment, which is very different to last year. I hope to be in the best possible condition to fulfil the club's expectations of me and score goals for the club. Although I have trained harder than most this summer, I also realize that it is equally important to stay relaxed and not overly focused on football."  

"I have clear and deep personal goals for the new season, but ultimately my priority is always to be at my best and contribute goals for Brentford."  

The striker added: “The team is currently adopting a new training philosophy and working methods, which provides us with the opportunity to learn different tactical thinking and playing styles. The biggest change is in ball control training. Compared with the previous movement-based training, now there is more emphasis on ball control and technical details.”  

In addition to the intensive training schedule and the warm-up match with Gil Vicente, this ten-day pre-season tour also created valuable opportunities for communication and team integration among the players.  

He continued: “It’s been a positive experience because of the team’s solidarity, professionalism and camaraderie. Compared to other clubs, the atmosphere here is more close-knit. The bonds we’ve built during this time have helped us to strengthen our chemistry and teamwork on the pitch.”
