The 2025/26 Premier League season is about to begin with a key matchday, with Chelsea hosting Crystal Palace at Stamford Bridge. Joao Pedro, who joined Chelsea in July, expressed his gratitude to his teammates for helping him adapt to his new environment and expressed his hope to achieve more with the team in the new season.

Joao Pedro, 23, previously played for Brighton and scored 10 goals in the Premier League last season.

Joao Pedro said: "Of course the players deserve a break because they have had a long season. But I think everyone has recovered and is ready for the new season. I was training at Cobham because I came back straight after the final. I had already had my break, so when I came back I looked for a house and moved from Brighton to Cobham. So I was there before the others arrived."

“I had been back in Brazil for five weeks before joining Chelsea, which kept me in shape, so I went straight to training. The first few days here were very new, but now I’m settling in. Luckily, Gittens was there too, so we trained together for a long time, and it felt great to train with him from the start.”

It is worth mentioning that after joining Chelsea, Joao Pedro flew to the United States to represent the team in the 2025 Club World Cup, and also helped Maresca's team win the championship with a goal.

Joao Pedro shared, “It was a great experience and I felt very comfortable. I think it was because I had played in England for five years and played against these players regularly, so I knew the players. It’s always difficult for a new player to join the team in the middle of a tournament, but my teammates were very welcoming.”

"Reece James and I spoke a lot, and Adarabioyo and Enzo sent me messages on my first day at the club. So they helped me a lot and took a lot of pressure off me, which I think is why I performed well in the United States."

In addition, Joao Pedro also said, "A lot of people say that I look like I have been playing here for a long time. This is a good start, but I need to keep working hard and keep improving. I have to train hard to help the team and the club achieve their goals."

"I'm looking forward to the season and I'm excited because I see we're a strong team and I'm confident we can accomplish a lot by the end of the season."
