Friendly match – Wirtz scores twice as Germany defeats Switzerland 4-3


The German national team, nicknamed "The German Machine," traveled to St. Jakob-Park for a friendly match and, after falling behind, defeated Switzerland, nicknamed "The Crusaders," 4-3 thanks to goals from Jonathan Tah, Gnabry, and Wirtz.


Three minutes into the match, Germany created an attacking opportunity when Wirtz received a pass from Sané and fired a shot from inside the penalty area, but the ball was blocked. In the 12th minute, Havertz combined with Wirtz in the penalty area before sliding in for a shot, but it was saved by Swiss goalkeeper Kerber.

In the 85th minute, Gross passed the ball across the box, and Wirtz, positioned at the edge of the penalty area, fired a long-range shot into the net, putting Germany ahead 4-3 against Switzerland. In the 88th minute, Ebiseckel took a free kick, and Erre Kummat headed the ball towards goal, but it went wide of the post.


In the end, Germany defeated Switzerland 4-3 away from home.
