Jose Sa: Although the result is not what we expected, I think it is still good overall.

Jose Sa is pleased with the final result of the 2024-25 campaign despite a rather turbulent season as Wolves goalkeeper. The goalkeeper made 100 appearances for the club in the past 12 months but had an inconsistent start to the season.

With the signing of Crystal Palace goalkeeper Sam Johnstone in August, Jose Sa dropped from the long-term starting goalkeeper position to the third position, where he had held the position for three consecutive years. After returning to the team, with the arrival of new head coach Vitor Pereira, Jose Sa re-demonstrated his strength and became a member of the history-making Wolves team, the team achieved six consecutive wins in the Premier League for the first time.

"It's been a pretty good season, even though it's been up and down," said Jose Sa. "It's not what we wanted, or expected at the beginning of the season, but in the end I think it's still positive overall."

“Given how we started and the difficult period we had a few months ago, it’s positive to get this result in the end. I can say it’s a positive ending overall. Relegation was a real possibility at that time and our situation was really difficult. But we also knew that we had a lot of good players in the team and we could play better.”

"Then Vitor Pereira came and everything was different. I think the players realised that we had to work harder, both for the club and for ourselves. After all, no one wants to be relegated during their career."

"That's how football works, we have to keep going and keep fighting. What happened happened. Of course, I always believed in him and in myself. I kept trying to get back into shape and thank God I did it. In the end, I just kept persisting and everything fell into place in the end."

Jose Sa also said: "In terms of goalkeeper coaches, I always try to tap into the strengths of each coach. I won't compare who is better, because each goalkeeper coach has his or her own unique qualities that others may not have. We have to learn as much as possible from them, absorb their best qualities, and constantly improve ourselves. I have been working hard to do this every year over the years."

"The goalkeeping role is different to other positions, but Wolves have a very balanced squad and it's been a real pleasure working with such a great group of players and goalkeepers."
