Nottingham Forest announced on Friday that they have loaned Brazilian midfielder Douglas Luiz from Juventus until the end of the 2025/26 season. Luiz's loan fee is €3 million, and the contract contains a buyout clause that can be enforced under certain conditions.

Juventus official documents show that Nottingham Forest's buyout offer for Luiz is €25 million, which can reach up to €28.5 million after including floating bonuses. During the loan period, Luiz will wear the number 12 jersey.

The 27-year-old Luiz came through the Vasco da Gama youth academy and made his debut for the first team in the Brazilian second division on August 27, 2016. He was signed by Manchester City for €12 million in July 2017 and subsequently moved to Girona and Aston Villa.

According to Transfermarkt statistics, Luiz made a total of 204 appearances in his five seasons at Villa, scoring 22 goals and providing 24 assists.

In January 2024, Luiz joined Juventus from Villa for 51.5 million euros. However, he has only played 27 times for Juventus so far, 21 of which were as a substitute.

After completing the transfer, Luiz said: "I am very happy to be here. Villa is a great club and I chose to join because I can feel the club's ambition. I can't wait to start the new journey with the team and will do my best for the jersey and the fans."

Villa's director of football, Ross Wilson, added: "It has been a busy but successful transfer window for us over the past few weeks and the arrival of Douglas will be a significant improvement to the squad."
