Kane: We still have a lot to improve

German champions Bayern Munich defeated Wiesbaden 3-2 in the first round of the 2025/26 German Cup, thanks to a brace from Kane and a goal from Oliseh. England star Kane stated that the team still has much room for improvement and must keep looking forward.

In the 15th minute, Sasha Boy was pulled down by an opposing player while attempting to receive Guerrero's lob, earning Bayern Munich a penalty kick. Kane then converted the penalty kick, giving Bayern Munich a 1-0 lead. In the 51st minute of the second half, Oliseh capitalized in the penalty area to score, extending Bayern's lead to 2-0 over Wiesbaden.

In the 64th minute, Fati Kaya scored with a diving shot, helping Wayne Wiesbaden to a 1-2 draw. In the 70th minute, Fati Kaya scored again against Bayern Munich, helping Wayne Wiesbaden to a 2-2 draw. In the 74th minute, Bayern Munich had another penalty kick, but Kane's penalty kick was blocked by Wayne Wiesbaden goalkeeper Stritzer, and the subsequent shot was also blocked.

In the second half stoppage time, Stanisic passed the ball to the front of the goal, and Kane jumped up and headed the ball into the goal. In the end, Bayern Munich defeated Wiesbaden 3-2 away.

"It was a crazy game, that's the beauty of the cup," Bayern Munich striker Kane said in an interview. "We were in complete control of the situation and should have been leading by two or three goals in the first half. In the second half, we had several great chances to seal the victory. But the opponent kept fighting, knowing that just one goal could turn the tide."

"In the last 15 minutes, we showed character and remained calm. Fortunately, we scored the winning goal in the final moments. We know there is still a lot of room for improvement, but we got the job done and that's what matters most. Now we have to move on."

Bayern Munich coach Kompany said, "Overall, it was a good game. Wiesbaden really tried their best and the club should be proud. Their goalkeeper performed well and they took their chances."

"Being 2-0 up is never enough, you have to go for the third goal. We stayed calm and kept creating chances. It wasn't a perfect game, but we advanced and that's what matters most."

In addition, Kimmich said, "We should have locked the situation earlier. We created a lot of opportunities, but when we didn't seize them, this situation happened. The key was that we remained calm. We often lost our composure in the final stage in the past, so I am very happy that we remained patient this time."
