French center-back Ibrahima Cornet said on Saturday that he hopes to decide on his future as soon as possible.
Cornet's contract extension negotiations with Liverpool have been under intense scrutiny in recent months. His current contract with Liverpool expires on June 30, 2026, and reports indicate that Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain, and Bayern Munich have all expressed interest in him.
French media outlet L'Equipe recently reported that Liverpool had made a final contract extension offer to Cornet. However, Cornet denied this at a press conference before France's match against Azerbaijan: "I've seen many reports in the media recently, such as Liverpool offering me a new contract. I don't know where these reports came from."
Regarding his future plans, which have attracted much attention, Cornet responded: "My agent is still in negotiations with Liverpool. I hope to make a decision as soon as possible and announce the result."
The 26-year-old Cornet previously played for Solskjaer and RB Leipzig before joining Liverpool in July 2021 for €40 million. To date, he has made 148 appearances for the Reds, scoring 6 goals and providing 4 assists, winning one Premier League title, one FA Cup, two League Cups, and one Community Shield with the team.
