Chelsea midfielder Lavia said in a recent interview that he enjoyed the conscientious competition among players and hoped to maintain his good form and fight for the opportunity to play.
In the first round of the 2025 Club World Cup Group D, the "Blue Lions" Chelsea relied on goals from Pedro Neto and Enzo to defeat Los Angeles FC 2-0 and successfully got off to a good start.
"We knew how big this tournament was before we got here and we're happy to be a part of it," said the 21-year-old Lavia of coming to the United States to compete in the Club World Cup. "It's great, we watched some other tournaments and they were all very high level and exciting."
"I think each team has different characteristics because they all come from different leagues and environments. This kind of confrontation is rare, so it is very worth watching. We also know how strong LAFC is, and their performance on the field also proved it. I am not surprised at all, they are a good team. As for my personal performance, I think it's not bad. I will play one game at a time, and after each game I will take time to review the performance and get better feedback from it."
"I have no physical problems, I feel good, and I am confident in my condition and what the team can achieve," Lavia said. "I won't think too far ahead now. I will just focus on playing well, and then do everything I can to stay healthy and get a chance to play."
"It's of course important for me to stay healthy, so I put a lot of effort into it. To be honest, I just want to put the injuries of the past behind me and now I just want to focus on the future and good form."
As for the competition in the team, Lavia shared, "For a club of this level, this is a must, and this kind of competition is also healthy. We have a good relationship with each other. We try our best every day. In the end, it is the coach who decides who plays, but all the players will always be ready."
On the other hand, the schedule for the 2025/26 Premier League has been announced, and Chelsea will play against Crystal Palace at Stamford Bridge in the first round, and will travel to West Ham in the second round.
