Championship club Leicester City officially announced that it has reached an agreement with first-team head coach Ruud van Nistelrooy to terminate its partnership, with the contract taking effect immediately.

The Dutch coach took over Leicester City in November 2024 and led the team through a challenging period. During his tenure, Van Nistelrooy demonstrated a high degree of professionalism and responsibility, not only going all out to pursue the team's reconstruction goals, but also actively promoting potential players from the youth academy to integrate into the first team system.

Although the team ultimately failed to avoid relegation from the Premier League, the club still expressed high recognition and sincere gratitude for Van Nistelrooy's commitment and dedication, and wished him all the best in the future.

Leicester City said in a statement: "Rudd has always performed his duties with integrity and professionalism and his efforts have earned the respect and gratitude of everyone at the club."

Van Nistelrooy also issued a farewell speech through official channels: "I would like to thank Leicester City's players, coaching staff, youth training team and all the employees who have worked with me for their professionalism and dedication during this period. I would also like to thank the fans for their support and sincerely wish the club all the best in the future."

As the new season of the English Championship approaches, Leicester City will start pre-season preparations as scheduled on June 30. Before the new head coach takes office, the existing coaching team will continue to lead the team in training and preparation plans.
