Liverpool announced on Monday that they have signed Swedish striker Alexander Isak from Newcastle United. The two sides have signed a five-year contract with an option to extend until June 30, 2031 .

The official also confirmed that Isaac will wear Liverpool's No. 9 jersey.

The 25-year-old Isak came through the AIK Solna youth system and made his senior team debut in the Swedish Cup on February 28, 2016. He subsequently played for Borussia Dortmund, Willem II, and Real Sociedad, winning the German Cup and the King's Cup with his teams.

In August 2022, Isaac transferred to Newcastle United for £63 million. To date, he has made 109 appearances for Newcastle United, scoring 62 goals and providing 11 assists, and helped the team win the 2025 English League Cup.

According to multiple sources, the base fee for the transfer was £125 million, with an additional £5 million in solidarity compensation. Isaac's transfer fee of £130 million also set a new Premier League transfer record.

After completing the transfer, Isaac said: “I feel great. It hasn’t been easy, but I’m very happy to be part of this team, this club and everything I love about watchmaking. I’m incredibly proud and I’m looking forward to the challenges ahead.

"I have mixed feelings right now – a little bit of relief, but mostly pride and joy. I'm glad everything is finally behind me and I can get back to work. I'm looking forward to seeing my teammates and the fans and getting back on the court."
