Liverpool announced on its official website on Tuesday that the club has extended the contract of its England U20s international defensive midfielder wonderkid Trey Nyoni.

According to Liverpool's official statement, Nyoni has signed on a long-term five-year deal with the club until the summer of 2030.

After completing his contract extension procedures, Nyoni, who was interviewed by Liverpool's official website again, said: "This means a lot to me, who obviously has supported this club since I was a child."

"So I feel great to be able to renew my contract. But now I have to stand up and prove why I deserve this contract. I think I need to get better step by step, day by day, every day, and keep improving as a player."

"I'm still young and there's a lot of room for improvement. This is the most important thing. I have to give them back in this way."

About Trey Nyoni

Nyoni, who is only 18 years old, was born in Leicester, England on June 30, 2007. He primarily plays as a defensive midfielder, but can also play as a center midfielder or attacking midfielder. He has dual citizenship of England and Zimbabwe.

Nyoni joined Leicester City's youth academy at the age of 6 and began to play for Leicester City's U18s team in the summer of the 2022.

As a member of the England U16s national team, Nyoni also won the championship held in Montague, France in April 2023, and also completed his Leicester City U21s team debut in the match against Porto U21s team in 2022.

In August 2023, Nyoni joined Liverpool for £2 million and completed his Liverpool first-team debut in an Carabao Cup match in February last year.

In January this year, Nyoni came on as as substitute bench in the Champions League match against PSV Eindhoven, breaking the record and becoming Liverpool's youngest debutant in European competition in the club's history.

Since becoming a member of the Reds, Nyoni has played 6 times for the Premier League champions in all competitions, assisted once, and won the Carabao Cup once with the club.
