Villarreal's coach admitted that the team failed to adapt to the pace of the game and their overall performance was inferior to their opponents, therefore Getafe's victory was well-deserved. Following Villarreal's 1-2 defeat at the Coliseum Stadium, coach Marcelino García Toral gave a media interview.  

Marcelino García Toral offered a clear assessment of the match, stating, "We knew what kind of game we should play, but we weren't clear on how exactly to do it. In the first half, we were too passive, especially lacking depth and consistency in attack, making it difficult to penetrate the opponent's penalty area."  

"Although our opponents pushed forward more, they failed to create any real threats and instead took advantage of one of our unnecessary mistakes. We discussed before the match that we had to avoid two things to keep our chances of winning: maintaining an 11-on-11 situation throughout the game and avoiding conceding penalties. We failed to do the second thing."  

Villarreal's manager expressed his regret over conceding the second goal, saying, "We made mistakes again in the second half, and the opponent punished us. From that moment on, the game became extremely difficult. But interestingly, that period was actually our best time."  

"If the team can only maintain this form for a short time, then the hope of winning will be very slim. Getafe's victory was well-deserved because we made some mistakes in the game, and these mistakes are absolutely unacceptable on this pitch, which led to our defeat."  

“It’s clear this will be a challenging match. The wind is strong and the pitch is uneven, but these are factors we have to adapt to. We know what we need to do to win, but we didn’t execute it well enough. Getafe did a better job and capitalized on our mistakes.”  

“We need more running and a deeper formation. The team couldn’t play the way it usually does today, but we have to make adjustments. It’s a valuable lesson, and we need to recover well now because we have another game in a few days.”
