Although Chelsea lost 1-3 to Bayern Munich away in their first Champions League match, coach Enzo Maresca gave a positive evaluation of the team's overall performance in an interview after the game.

Maresca first affirmed the team's start: "We played very well in the first 20 minutes, creating two or three clear chances and not allowing the opponent any chances. Even after conceding the goal, we maintained the intensity of the game and scored a goal."

Talking about the second half, Maresca noted that the team maintained their good momentum, but conceding another goal at a crucial moment made the situation difficult. "We started the second half better than the first, but after conceding the goal, we didn't play well for about ten minutes," Maresca said.

"But the team tried to catch up again in the final stage and showed a never-give-up attitude. In a competition of this level, against such an opponent, you need to stay completely focused for 95 minutes. We played well as a whole, but we haven't been consistent throughout the game."

Despite the disappointing result, Maresca chose to emphasize the positives. He said: "Personally, I'm satisfied with the team's performance. We knew how difficult it would be to face such an opponent away from home, but the team showed courage and competitiveness. Even in an unfavorable situation, we persisted until the very end."

Chelsea have not lost a game since the start of the Premier League this season, and this Champions League first round match was Chelsea's first defeat. Chelsea's next match will be on September 21st, away to Manchester United in the fifth round of the Premier League.
