Aston Villa announced on Monday that they have signed a contract extension with Matty Cash, which will run from 2027 to June 30, 2029, with an option for a further one-year extension.

After the signing was completed, Cash said on his personal social media: "I am very happy to sign a new long-term contract with the club. Thank you for your support."

The 28-year-old Cash came from Nottingham Forest's youth training and made his first appearance for the first team in the Championship on August 6, 2016. He made 141 appearances for Nottingham Forest, scoring 13 goals and providing 14 assists.

In September 2020, Cash transferred to Aston Villa for €15.75 million. He mainly plays as a right-back for Villa and has made 193 appearances so far, contributing 12 goals and 12 assists.

At the national team level, Cash has also performed well. Since making his debut in November 2021, he has played 22 times for the Polish national team and scored 4 goals.

Villa's next contract renewal target

After completing the contract extension with Cash, Aston Villa has not stopped its efforts to retain key players. The club's next contract renewal targets are 23-year-old England attacker Morgan Rogers and 31-year-old Scotland midfielder John McGinn, whose current contracts expire in 2030 and 2027 respectively.

This has also been confirmed by Aston Villa manager Unai Emery, who stated before last Wednesday's match against Go Ahead Eagles: "The club is in discussions with Matty Cash, Morgan and John McGinn about their personal contracts."
