Murphy, with Newcastle United's strong start, aims for the round of 16 and hopes to make history at home again.

As the second leg of the Champions League tie kicks off at St. James' Park, Newcastle United winger Jacob Murphy is basking in the joy of making history for both himself and the club.

In the first leg, a 6-1 away victory against Qarabağ FK, the homegrown star, who has supported Newcastle United since childhood, finally broke his goal drought and scored his first Champions League goal.

For Murphy, this goal was more than just a number on the scoreboard; it was the realization of a lifelong dream. In an interview with the club's official website, he couldn't hide his excitement and relief: "It feels amazing!"

“A few years ago, playing in the Champions League was my dream. After making my debut at the San Siro, I was always eager to score my first goal. Although I had a few assists before, goals always seemed to elude me. With the help of my teammates, I finally did it!”

With a resounding, epic victory, Newcastle United are about to conclude a difficult four-game away road trip. Regarding their return to St. James' Park, Murphy said: "We are really looking forward to playing in front of our home fans again. Although the second leg is still a tough match that we cannot afford to underestimate, it's really reassuring to be back at our familiar ground."

The 6-1 victory in the first leg set a new record for the club's biggest Champions League win, giving Newcastle United a significant advantage in the qualification race and a strong chance of facing top clubs like Barcelona or Chelsea in the round of 16.

Speaking of this potential milestone, Murphy was full of anticipation: "This team has been climbing new heights for the past four seasons. If we can make it to the top 16, it will be another significant achievement on our list of accomplishments."
