According to Italian transfer journalist Marco Conterio on Wednesday, Napoli have resumed contact with Manchester United midfielder Kobe Menu. For club sporting director Giovanni Manner, Menu is Antonio Conte's top transfer target in the winter transfer window.
Menou joined Manchester United's youth academy at the age of 9 and made his first-team debut in the English League Cup on January 10, 2023. To date, the 20-year-old has made 82 appearances for Manchester United, scoring 7 goals and providing 3 assists, winning both the FA Cup and the English League Cup with the team.
So far this season, Menou has only made 10 appearances, 9 of which were as a substitute. Due to the lack of playing time, he has begun to consider leaving Manchester United and seeking a development platform where he can get more playing time.
On the other hand, Conte is confident that Menu can replicate McTominay's success in Italy. He has personally endorsed the deal, believing that Menu's technical characteristics are a perfect fit for Napoli's tactical system.
Earlier reports suggested that Napoli were planning a £50 million bid for Menou from Manchester United, offering him a four-year contract. However, it remains unclear whether this information is accurate.
