Nottingham Forest announced on Sunday the official appointment of Vitor Pereira as first-team manager. He signed an 18-month contract, running until June 30, 2027.
Pereira will succeed Sean Dyche, who was sacked on Thursday, as Nottingham Forest's fourth manager this season. One of his tasks is to lead Forest to safety from relegation, as the team currently sits fourth from bottom in the Premier League with 27 points from 7 wins, 6 draws, and 13 losses.
Despite the extremely challenging current situation, Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis remains confident in Pereira. The two previously worked together at Olympiacos for about six months, during which they won both the league and cup double.
The 57-year-old Pereira initially worked in youth academy at Padonz and Porto before taking charge of the first team independently in 2004. A representative of Portugal's younger generation of coaches, he has left his mark in Saudi Arabia, Greece, Turkey, Germany, China, Brazil, and England.
To date, Pereira has coached São João, Espinho, Santa Clara, Porto, Nacional, Olympiacos, Fenerbahce, 1860 Munich, Shanghai SIPG, Corinthians, Flamengo, Al-Junção, and Wolverhampton Wanderers. During this period, he led his teams to a record of 330 wins, 131 draws, and 144 losses, and his honors include two Portuguese Primeira Liga titles, two Portuguese Super Cup titles, one Greek Super League title, one Greek Cup title, one Chinese Super League title, and one Chinese Super Cup title.
This move to take over at Nottingham Forest marks Pereira's return to the managerial helm after a two-month hiatus. He was sacked by Wolves in November 2025 due to poor results and had been unemployed since.
Pereira will lead Forest in their first training session on Monday, in full preparation for Thursday's Europa League knockout play-off first leg away to Fenerbahce. His coaching staff is also in place, including assistant coaches Felipe Almeida and Luis Miguel, head of fitness and tactical analysis Bruno Mora, and analyst Pedro López.
