Spanish online media outlet Relevo's resident renowned Italian transfer journalist Matteo Moretto exclusively reported on Tuesday that Atlético Madrid has agreed to sign Mexican attacking midfielder Ronaldo Nájera on-loan from its sister club, Atlético San Luis.
According to Moretto, Nájera will officially join Atléti on-loan when the winter transfer window opens in January. The loan agreement will last for six months, until the summer of 2026.
The loan agreement also includes a non-mandatory buy-out clause. The buy-out fee is reportedly set at €2 million.
Moretto added that Nájera is already able to join Atlético Madrid immediately and train with their B team.
Barring any unforeseen circumstances, Nájera will play for the La Liga powerhouse's B team first in January, and will be hoping to earn a chance to play for their first-team.
About Ronaldo Nájera
Ronaldo Nájera, who is only still 22 years old, was born on February 24, 2003, in Ciudad Mante, Mexico. He is 1.72 meters tall and primarily plays as an attacking midfielder, but can also play as a right midfielder.
Nájera joined the youth academy of Tigres UANL at a young age, and began playing for their U23s team in the summer of 2023.
After his contract expired last July, Nájera joined Atlético San Luis as a free agent and completed his Atlético San Luis first-team debut by coming on as a substitute in a match against Club América just weeks after joining.
Since his debut, Nájera has made 34 appearances for the Liga MX club in all competitions so far, scoring 4 goals and providing 4 assists.
