Manchester United announced on Saturday that 22-year-old RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sheshko has officially joined the club. The two sides have signed a five-year contract, valid until June 30, 2030.

Sheshko's contract at RB Leipzig was originally scheduled to expire in 2029. He is expected to join Manchester United for a transfer fee of 76.5 million euros, plus an 8.5 million euro floating clause that is easily triggered.

It is also reported that Manchester United has agreed to a friendly match with RB Leipzig for the transfer. RB Leipzig also retains a 10% share of the player's future transfer fees.

Commenting on Sheshko's arrival, Manchester United's Director of Football, Jason Wilcox, said: "Benjamin possesses a rare combination of blistering pace and formidable physicality, making him one of the brightest young talents in global football. We have been closely monitoring Benjamin's career development, and all the data and research indicates that he possesses the technical and mental attributes required to succeed at Manchester United. Under the guidance of Reuben and our technical team, Benjamin will be placed in the ideal environment to fully unleash his world-class potential."

The 22-year-old Sheshko was born in Radice, Slovenia, and made his senior debut for Red Bull Salzburg's satellite club, RB Leipzig, in the Austrian second division on July 26, 2019. He played in the Austrian Bundesliga for RB Salzburg from June 2021 until his transfer to RB Leipzig in July 2023 for €24 million.

To date, Sheshko has made 87 appearances for RB Leipzig, scoring 39 goals and providing 8 assists, and won 1 German Super Cup with the team.

Sheshko has also performed well at the national team level. Since making his debut in June 2021, he has played 41 times for Slovenia, contributing 16 goals and 6 assists.
