Rangers officially announced the sacking of manager Russell Martin..

Rangers announced on their official website on Sunday that manager Russell Martin has been sacked with immediate effect.

According to Rangers' official statement, while the management recognizes that change will take time, the team's performances has fallen far short of expectations, forcing the club to make the decision to part ways with Martin at this time.

With this personnel change, Martin's assistants, Matt Gill and Mike Williamson, will also be sacked immediately.

Further information regarding the interim manager and the new manager will be announced in due course.

In addition, according to the BBC's resident renowned Scottish Rangers team correspondent Tom English, the fans and players have long since worn out their patience with Martin.

Since being sacked by Southampton last December, Martin has shown no remorse for his mistakes, as was evident in his interview with Sky Sports a few months ago.

English added that since becoming Rangers manager this summer, Martin has persisted trying to emulate Liverpool legendary manager Jürgen Klopp's "Gegenpressing" tactical system, despite his inability to execute them. This has led to tactical failures on both attack and defence, yet he stubbornly maintains his innocence.

Furthermore, as he did during his time at the EFL Championship club, he consistently blames his mistakes on "the players' incorrect mentality and philosophy," ultimately losing the support of players and fans and drawing even harsher criticism from the media and journalists.

After the club suffered a shock late draw against newly promoted Falkirk on Sunday, management finally lost patience and sacked Martin.

Notably, Martin, who was sacked after only 17 games in all competitions, has the shortest tenure and lowest win percentage (29.41%) in Rangers' club history.

This season, Rangers have performed poorly under Martin in both the Scottish Premier League and the Europa League.

After 7 matchdays, Rangers only achieved 1 win, 5 draws and 1 loss, placing 8th in the Scottish Premier League table with 8 points, which is several times worse than the performances of former Lyon head coach Paul Le Guen when he was the club's head coach in the same period in the 2006/07 season.
