Brentford released a statement on Thursday confirming that they have extended the contract of their manager, Keith Andrews, for five years, extending it until June 30, 2032, from its original expiration date of 2027.
The 45-year-old Andrews began his coaching career in 2015, initially working as an assistant coach at Milton Keynes Dons, Ireland U21, the Irish national team, and Sheffield United. He joined Brentford in July 2024 as a set-piece coach and succeeded Thomas Frank as first-team manager the following year.
Under Andrews' leadership, Brentford currently sit seventh in the Premier League with 40 points from 12 wins, 4 draws, and 11 losses. They have also made significant strides in cup competitions, reaching the quarterfinals of the English League Cup and the fifth round of the FA Cup.
Brentford's sporting director, Phil Giles, explained the decision to extend Andrews' contract: "Keith signed a three-year contract when he took over as manager last summer, but our initial plan was to evaluate his contract as early as possible. Given the progress we've made this season, I'm very pleased that both sides were able to reach an agreement on an extension within nine months of Keith taking over."
“Keith’s work has been outstanding, and the team is in excellent form. All the areas we thought could be improved at the beginning of the season have now seen significant improvements. He fits the club and our working style perfectly and is able to fully unleash the potential of the players and staff.”
"Everyone at Brentford is delighted with Keith’s long-term commitment, and I look forward to the achievements we will make together in the coming seasons."
Andrews said, "I'm incredibly proud. I just signed my first contract not long ago, and now I've been offered a renewal just a few months later. This is probably a good sign!"
"Time flies, and a lot has happened in the meantime, but I am truly grateful for the trust that Matthew Benham, Phil Giles, Lee Dykes, and Ben Ryan have placed in me."
“It is a great honor to manage such a great club. It would be wonderful to continue working alongside Brentford for many years to come.”
