Fiorentina announced on Saturday that it had completed a contract extension with David De Gea, extending the contract that was originally scheduled to expire in 2026 by two years. With the completion of the contract extension, De Gea will play for Fiorentina until June 2028.
According to Italian media reports, De Gea's annual salary in Florence has increased from 2.4 million euros to 3.5 million euros.
David De Gea is 34 years old and is one of the best goalkeepers in Spain. He came from the youth training of Atletico Madrid and made his debut for the first team in the Champions League on September 30, 2009.
In July 2011, De Gea transferred from Atletico Madrid to Manchester United for 25 million euros. He played for Manchester United for 12 years, during which time he made 545 appearances, kept 190 clean sheets, and won 1 UEFA Cup, 1 Premier League, 1 FA Cup, 2 English League Cups and 3 Community Shield titles.
Affected by tactical adjustments and salary demands, De Gea left Manchester United in July 2023. He then stayed at home for a year until joining Fiorentina as a free agent in August 2024. So far, De Gea has played 42 times for Fiorentina, completing 11 clean sheets, and is regarded as a key contributor to the team's sixth place in Serie A.
