Heidenheim issued a statement on Thursday, announcing that it has renewed its contract with Austrian goalkeeper Paul Chernut for two years. The contract between the two parties was originally scheduled to expire this summer, and the new agreement will extend it to June 30, 2027.

Regarding the decision to renew Paul Chernut's contract, Heidenheim CEO Holger Sonnwald explained: "For nearly five years, Chernut has won recognition with his reliability and absolute teamwork. And he is still very young as a goalkeeper and has corresponding development potential. Therefore, we are very happy that Chernut can continue to stay in our team!"

After signing, Chernout said: "I am very grateful for everyone's trust in me. I agree 100% with the values of Heidenheim, so the club has become my second home in the past few years. I will continue to work hard and do my best to support the team."

The 23-year-old Chernout was born in Salzburg, Austria, and was trained at Red Bull Salzburg and Levlin as a teenager. He joined Heidenheim U19 in September 2020 and was successfully promoted to the first team in July of the following year.

Despite this, Chernout has yet to make his first-team debut for Heidenheim. He is currently the third goalkeeper for Heidenheim, behind Kevin Muller and Frank Feller.
