Al-Qahri officially announced on Tuesday that Jorge Jesus will replace Stefano Pioli as the first team coach with immediate effect. The two parties signed a one-year contract, which will be valid until June 30, 2026.
Jorge Jesus parted ways with Al-Hilal after being eliminated in the semi-finals of the 2024/25 Asian Champions League, and was once the second candidate for the head coach of the Brazilian national team after Carlo Ancelotti. The 70-year-old has coached Al-Hilal twice, during which time he led the team to win 1 Saudi Super League title, 1 Saudi King Cup and 3 Saudi Super Cups, with a total record of 96 wins, 14 draws and 10 losses.
For Jesus, Ronaldo was the key reason he was chosen as the winning coach in Riyadh. "Without Ronaldo, I certainly wouldn't have come back," he said before flying from Lisbon to Riyadh. "We speak the same language, which makes everything easier. I couldn't refuse the challenge Ronaldo gave me."
According to Saudi media Al Riyadiah, Jesus' annual salary at Victory is 7 million euros.
In addition to the Saudi League, Jesus has also coached many teams including Almora, Felgueiras, Madeira Union, Estrella de Amadora, Setubal, Guimarães, Moreira, Leiria Union, Belem, Braga, Benfica, Sporting Lisbon, Flamengo, Fenerbahçe, etc. During this period, he led his team to win 3 Portuguese Super League titles, 1 Portuguese Cup, 6 Portuguese League Cups, 2 Portuguese Super Cups, 1 Brazilian League, 1 Brazilian Super Cup, 1 Copa Libertadores, 1 Copa Sudamericana Winners' Cup and 1 Turkish Cup, with a total record of 579 wins, 102 draws and 215 losses.
