UEFA Super Cup - Paris Saint-Germain wins the title after defeating Tottenham Hotspur 4-3 on penalties


The 2025 European Super Cup was contested at the Friuli Stadium. Champions League champions Paris Saint-Germain, after falling behind by two goals, defeated Premier League giants Tottenham Hotspur 4-3 on penalties thanks to goals from Lee Kang-in and Gonzalo Ramos, successfully winning the championship.


At the start of the match, Tottenham Hotspur attacked immediately after a mistake by Paris Saint-Germain defender Achraf. Pedro Porro met the ball at the top of the penalty area and shot from distance, but the ball went wide. In the 3rd minute, Kevin Danso headed the ball to Romero, but it went wide.


In the 8th minute, PSG launched a counterattack. Zaire Emery passed the ball from the penalty area to Kvaratskhelia, who shot wide. In the 23rd minute, Tottenham Hotspur created an attacking opportunity. Richarlison received a through ball from Kudus and shot from the top of the penalty area, but the ball was blocked by PSG goalkeeper Chevalier.


In the 35th minute, PSG's attack in the penalty area was cleared, and Dembélé received the ball but kicked it high. In the 66th minute, Zaire Emery organized an attack. Douai's long shot from the top of the penalty area was blocked by Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Vicario. Then Barkola made a follow-up shot, but Barkola's goal was ruled out for offside. In the 70th minute, Fabian Ruiz passed back from the penalty area, and Dembélé took the ball and pushed it, but the ball went wide of the goal.


In the 85th minute, Vitinha passed the ball from the top of the penalty area, and Li Kangren adjusted the ball before shooting it in from long range, helping Paris Saint-Germain tie the game at 1-2. In the second half stoppage time, Dembélé crossed from the penalty area, and Gonzalo Ramos headed in the goal, helping Paris Saint-Germain tie the score at 2-2.


With neither team able to change the score in the ensuing period, the match went to penalties. Solanke scored in the first penalty shootout, while Vitinha's penalty went wide. Bentancur and Gonzalo Ramos both scored in the second. In the third, Van der Ven's penalty was saved by Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Chevalier, but Dembélé found the net.


In the 4th round, Matthijs Ert's penalty kick went wide and Li Kangren scored. In the 5th round, Pedro Polo scored and Nuno Mendes scored.


In the end, Paris Saint-Germain defeated Tottenham Hotspur 4-3 on penalties and won the championship.
