Nick Pope has officially confirmed that he has triggered the one-year extension clause in his current contract with Newcastle United. His contract, originally due to expire on June 30, 2026, has been extended to June 30, 2027.

There were earlier reports that Newcastle United had triggered a contract extension clause in Pope's contract. In response, the player said in an interview: "It's hard to say how I feel about it, because the extension clause was triggered as early as July 2023. I was very happy at the time, and my current contract expires in July 2027. Of course, I also look forward to staying at Newcastle for a longer time."

The 33-year-old Pope is a 1.98-meter-tall British goalkeeper who has played for several teams including Charlton Athletic and Burnley in his career. He transferred to Newcastle United for £10 million in July 2022 and signed a four-year contract.

To date, Pope has made 106 appearances for Newcastle United, keeping 42 clean sheets. He also helped Newcastle United win the 2024/25 League Cup and qualify for the Champions League twice.
