Brann announced on its official website on Monday that Rangers' Wales international winger Rabbi Matondo has joined the club on a free transfer.
According to the Norwegian Eliteserien club's official statement, Matondo signed a short-term eight-month deal with the club which will only run until the end of this winter.
After completing his joining procedures, Matondo, who was interviewed by the Brann official website for the first time, said: "When Brann showed interest in me, I felt the timing was right. This season has been tough, so I just want to get back on the pitch."
About Rabbi Matondo
The 25-year-old Matondo was born on September 9, 2000, in Liverpool, England. He is 1.75 meters tall and primarily plays as a left winger, but can also play as a right winger, attacking midfielder, or center forward. He holds dual British and Democratic Republic of Congo citizenship. His father is a former player in the DRC, his older brother is a non-league level player, and his younger brother plays for Stoke City.
Matondo joined Cardiff City's youth academy at a young age. His move to Manchester City's youth academy in 2016 caused a stir, ultimately settling for £500,000 in compensation.
On the 2019 winter transfer window deadline day, Matondo joined Schalke 04 for €11 million, before his Schalke 04 first-team debut by coming on as a substitute two weeks later.
During his year-and-a-half spell with Die Knappen, Matondo helped the team reach the DFB-Pokal quarterfinals twice.
In January 2021, Matondo was loaned-out to Stoke City. In August of the same year, he was loaned-out to Cercle Brugge.
In July 2022, Matondo joined Rangers for £2.5 million.
In the first half of 2025, he was loaned-out to Hannover 96.
During his two-and-a-half-year spell with Rangers, Matondo made 70 appearances for the Scottish Premiership giants in all competitions, scoring 8 goals and providing 11 assists, as well as winning the Scottish League Cup once.
