Reece James, who currently plays for Chelsea, said that after suffering from injuries in the past few seasons, he finally saw a significant improvement this season, and his physical and competitive state are at a very ideal stage.  

After several difficult seasons, Reece James's playing rhythm and game tasks have been properly regulated under the close attention of coach Enzo Maresca and his coaching team. The Chelsea captain missed the early part of the 2024-25 season due to injury and was unable to play for most of the first half of the season, but he performed very well in the second half of the season and his form has clearly recovered.  

Reece James made 27 appearances for Chelsea in all competitions in the 2024-25 season, setting a record for the most appearances in a single season since the 2021-22 season. Last month, he led the Blues back to the Champions League as captain and successfully lifted the UEFA Confederations Cup trophy.  

The player was in great form having finally returned to the England starting line-up in March after a two-and-a-half year absence and he made no mistake by scoring a superb free-kick to mark the occasion, his first goal for England.  

Reece James said: "I've had two or three very difficult seasons, always injured, and problems just after recovery, it's really hard to endure. After going through so many challenges, people will inevitably feel physically and mentally exhausted. This season I feel that I have made great progress, my performance is very stable, and I have been selected for the England team again."  

"I feel very strong and confident that I am on the right path. I was in great form towards the end of the season and felt very healthy and stable overall."  

It has been an excellent few weeks for Chelsea, who not only secured a return to the Champions League next season, but also became the first club to win all of UEFA's major competitions, and also managed to sign one of England's most anticipated young strikers in Liam Delap.  

Although Liam Delap's Ipswich team is currently ranked second from the bottom in the league, 16 points away from the relegation zone, the 22-year-old player has scored 12 goals in the Premier League and effectively caused trouble for many top central defenders.  

At the pre-World Cup qualifier press conference, Reece James talked about Liam Delap's joining. He said: "Liam Delap has had an excellent season at Ipswich and I am very happy that he can join us next season. He is a very good player and I am very much looking forward to it."
