Simon Rusk is honoured to be appointed interim manager of Southampton for the remainder of the season

This month, 43-year-old Simon Rusk was appointed as Southampton's interim manager for the remainder of the season. After Ivan Juric was sacked and the team was relegated seven games in advance, Rusk was appointed by the club to take over the coaching position and lead the Saints through the final journey of this turbulent season.

As early as December last year, Rusk was temporarily promoted to the first team coach after Russell Martin left. At that time, he was the coach of the U21 team. Now, the coach who once coached Stockport and played in the non-professional league as a player is once again in the spotlight, shouldering the heavy responsibility of rebuilding confidence and defending dignity.

In the past two games, Southampton lost 0-3 to Villa at home and then drew 1-1 with West Ham United away. Although the results were not amazing, Rusk's calmness and self-reflection made the outside world take a new look at his coaching attitude.

At the pre-match press conference against Fulham, Rusk spoke about his feelings about taking charge of the team again, saying: "I feel extremely honored. I am the only one who knows how much sweat I have put in to get to where I am today. This is a journey and a story. Everyone has their own struggle history, not just in the football circle, but in every industry."

"To be honest, I don't have much time to reflect on my past. There are too many things going on. But it's an honor to be able to take a moment to reflect on my journey and see how I got to where I am now. It's an honor to be able to coach a Premier League team."

"Even after a loss, being able to say a few words to the players is a privilege as a head coach. Being able to express my views in front of the media, whether it is a high moment or a low period, is also an honor. Every time I stand on the sidelines when leading the team in training and competition, I remind myself that this journey has not been easy. There have been ups and downs, but there has also been perseverance."

"Everyone should be in awe and reflect on their experiences. I am no exception, especially now."

"But I am not here simply to 'enjoy the journey'. I believe in my ability as a coach and head coach, and I believe in my past resume and experience. I will strive to constantly challenge myself and push the team forward while enjoying the coaching process."
