Slaughter: We will miss Diaz terribly

Colombian winger Diaz recently moved from Liverpool to German giants Bayern Munich, and coach Slot said that he and his players will miss the star.
Diaz, 28, joined Liverpool in January 2022. During his time with the Red Army, he played 148 games and contributed 41 goals. He also helped Liverpool win one FA Cup, two League Cups and one Community Shield, as well as the Premier League title in the 2024/25 season.
But what is very sad is that Liverpool star Jota died in a car accident last month. When Diaz posted a farewell to Liverpool on social media, he also specifically mentioned this comrade-in-arms and said that he would never forget Jota, with whom he played football for many years.
Liverpool manager Slaughter said: "It is a sad day for me that Diaz is leaving. He is a person who always smiles. In the year I coached him, he always smiled no matter what the situation was. I gave him a lot of playing time, so he probably had reason to be so happy all the time."
"But even if I didn't play him, he would always be fully engaged in every training session with a smile on his face. "Besides that, I will miss the fans singing his special song, which is probably one of the best songs the fans have ever sung for a player. And of course, we will also miss his contribution to our Premier League title win."
"That's the process that we go through as a club," Slaughter said. "We sign big-name players and we've been doing that over the last few years. But sometimes we have to sell players and use the funds to make those signings."
"We spent a lot on summer signings, but if you look at the money we brought in, it was not low. Just like last summer, we relied almost exclusively on selling players. For the club, this is actually a good thing."
