The 2025/26 UEFA Champions League will enter its sixth round, with Liverpool traveling to the San Siro to challenge Italian giants Inter Milan. Manager Sloot stated in a press conference that his team will face a strong opponent, praising the Nerazzurri as an experienced and talented team.

In the last round of the Champions League, Liverpool came from behind to win thanks to a goal from Szoboszlai, but then conceded goals repeatedly and ultimately suffered a 1-4 defeat to PSV Eindhoven. Liverpool are currently ranked 13th in the standings with 9 points.

Inter Milan's side, Chivu, lost 1-2 to Atletico Madrid in their last Champions League match. However, in their earlier Serie A game, Inter Milan secured a 4-0 victory over Como, successfully facing Liverpool in the upcoming match.

Liverpool manager Sloot said, "We will be facing a very good and strong team that has performed brilliantly in both the league and the Champions League this season. They have been a major force in the Champions League for the past three seasons, reaching the final twice, and losing the other time to Atletico Madrid on penalties. Slaughter also said, "When I think of Chivu, the first thing that comes to mind is his playing career, because he played for Ajax, and I even think I may have played against him. He was an excellent defender with superb footwork, and you can see those qualities in the teams he coached."
