St. Pauli announced on Wednesday that it would extend David Nemeth's contract, which was originally scheduled to last until 2026. As usual, the club did not disclose the length of the extension and the specific details.

The 24-year-old David Nemeth was born in Eisenstadt, Austria, and mainly plays as a center forward. He has played for Mattersburg, Mainz 05 and Graz Storm, and transferred to St. Pauli for 1.3 million euros in July 2022.

To date, Nemeth has made 40 appearances for St. Pauli, scoring 1 goal and providing 1 assist. Despite being sidelined for 236 days due to pubic inflammation, he still helped the team avoid relegation with his outstanding performance after his comeback.

After completing the contract extension, St. Pauli sports director Andreas Bornemann said: "Due to repeated minor injuries, David could only play as a substitute for a long time. However, he always put the interests of the team first and fully demonstrated his excellent team spirit and professional attitude. That is why we are very happy to see that he seized the opportunity last season and became an important part of the team's success with his stable performance."

St. Pauli coach Alexander Blessing added: "David has made rapid progress this season and has become a regular starter for the first team. He can play in all positions in the three-back system and has excellent pressing and passing abilities, which provides more flexibility for our tactics. While waiting for his opportunity in the first team, he is also focusing on improving his own abilities. I am very happy that he will continue to move forward with us."

Nemeth said: "In recent years, Hamburg and St. Pauli have become my second home, even though it has not always been smooth sailing in football.
