Jonathan Tah hinted on Sunday that his next stop could be playing in an overseas league.

Tah has just over a month left on his contract with Leverkusen, but he made it clear last month that he had no intention of renewing it. "I have informed the club of my decision to leave," Tah said at the time. "The communication between us was very frank and the club was fully aware of it. I decided from the beginning not to renew my contract and have always maintained this position. This is still the case now."

As for his future, Tah claimed that he would make a decision as soon as possible. He told Bild on Sunday: "I will make a decision soon, but I don't want to set a specific date. What is certain is that the decision will not be delayed for two months."

Later, Tah expressed his interest in overseas leagues: "Landing in a league where the language is not spoken will undoubtedly bring additional challenges. In particular, I hope to play a certain role in the team, which means I need to work harder and try to integrate into a new environment. For this reason, overseas leagues are very attractive to me."

“For me, the key now is to leave my comfort zone in order to grow further. I love growth and am keen to continue to develop myself and gain new experiences in new environments. I believe that I can still tap more potential. I want to become the best version of myself with my personal talents, and this is my goal.”

The 29-year-old Tah came from Hamburg's youth training and joined Leverkusen on a lease-to-buy basis in January 2015. He mainly plays as a central defender in Leverkusen and has made 401 appearances so far, scoring 18 goals and providing 13 assists, winning the Bundesliga, German Cup and German Super Cup with the team.

Talking about his relationship with Leverkusen, Tah said emotionally: "It means a lot to me. Leverkusen is my home! I have spent most of my adult life here. I come here to train every day. Leverkusen has made me who I am today. I believe that I will continue to improve in the future, but my experience in Leverkusen is very important to me and it will always be the same in the future."

"Even if I leave Leverkusen, I will never forget it. No matter where I am, no matter how old I am. Even on my deathbed, I will still think of Leverkusen and the good times I had here."
