Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur officially announced that 19-year-old Swedish midfielder Lucas Bergvall has signed a new contract with the team, which will last until 2031.
Bergvar reached a joining agreement with Tottenham in February 2024, and officially transferred from the Swedish Super League team Djurgardens on July 1 of the same year. Although Bergvar was playing in the English league for the first time, he quickly showed his extraordinary strength.
Since the opening game of the 2024-25 season against Leicester City, Bergvar has made 45 appearances in all competitions, fully demonstrating his adaptability and stability in high-intensity games.
In January 2025, Bergvar scored his first goal for Tottenham in the first leg of the League Cup semi-final against Liverpool, helping the team win 1-0. In addition, he also contributed 4 assists in the Premier League and Europa League, becoming a highlight of the team this season.
In an interview with the club, Bergvar expressed his joy about the contract extension and his expectations for the future: "I am really excited and very grateful to everyone who has supported and helped me. It means a lot to me to continue to stay in this ambitious club. I enjoy playing here and look forward to continuing this journey."
"Coming to a new country, you have to adapt to a new culture. Although I had Kulusevski's help at the beginning, living on my own, from cooking, taking care of the house to taking care of daily chores, I learned a lot and it also made me grow as a person."
Bergvar waited patiently for his chance to play in the early days of joining Tottenham, and gradually became an important member of the team in the second half of the season. He said: "Coming here from the Swedish league, I need time to adapt, but with the help of my teammates and coaches, I have learned a lot and am constantly improving."
With the contract renewal dust settled, Bergvar will continue to write his own growth chapter at Tottenham and lay a solid foundation for future glory.
