Tuchel urges Rashford to reach full potential

England's "Three Lions" will travel to Latvia in the eighth round of the 2026 World Cup European qualifiers, Group K. Speaking about Barcelona striker Rashford, Tuchel hopes the striker can fully realize his potential.
The 27-year-old Rashford was loaned to La Liga giants Barcelona from Manchester United in July this year. Since the start of the 2025/26 La Liga season, Rashford has contributed one goal and three assists for Flick's team, and scored two goals for Barcelona in the Champions League, performing very well.
England manager Tuchel said, "It's not a question of talent, but whether Rashford can prove himself for club and country. I think his ceiling is very high, perhaps higher than others. He has that potential, but the word potential is actually very dangerous in top sports."
"The key is to be able to perform at his best on a regular basis, which is what top-level competition demands and the challenge he must face. He has every ability to become one of the best players in the world, as seen in training and in his shots with both feet and his head.
Tuchel continued, "He's very explosive, very fast, and he's also a good header, so where is his limit? I think there is no limit, but the current data does not match his potential, that's all."
In addition, in an earlier friendly match, England defeated Wales 3-0 at home with goals from Morgan Rogers, Watkins and Saka.
England currently ranks first in Group K with 15 points, and its prospects of advancing to the World Cup finals are also good.
Tuchel said, "It is a pleasure to coach this team and watch them play. Their performance against Wales was also excellent. Especially in the first half, the opponent could hardly break through."
"We and the team are setting the standard. They are full of desire and show that attitude on the pitch. We are moving in the right direction. Of course there is still room for improvement, but for now we are satisfied."
