Will Hughes suggests that despite Crystal Palace's 1-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur in their final match of the 2025 season, the team should look for positives in the game. Throughout the match, Crystal Palace attempted 15 shots but failed to break through Tottenham goalkeeper Guillermo Vicario's defense. Archie Gray's header near the end of the first half proved to be the only goal of the game.  

The Crystal Palace player was one of several players in the red and blue jerseys who came close to scoring several times during the match, but ultimately the team failed to find the net. When asked what the team lacked, Will Hughes said, "I think the main problem was a lack of decisiveness in front of goal. We created a lot of chances throughout the game, but we just couldn't put the ball in the net."  

“I think we can be proud of our overall performance in terms of how we lost. As the manager pointed out after the game, this defeat was self-inflicted compared to last week’s game against Leeds United. However, ultimately, performance alone cannot earn points, which is why we are frustrated tonight.”  

Will Hughes stated that the performance in this game proved that the perceptions of a lack of team energy or a recent congested schedule did not affect the final result. He added, "That would be too lazy to say, because the problem wasn't about energy or fatigue at all."  

"We're currently in a phase that every team goes through. We've created a lot of chances, but haven't been able to put the ball in the net. Unfortunately, we're experiencing this situation. The most important thing is to continue creating chances, and the second is to put the ball in the net. That's what changes the outcome of the game, and we've seen this happen before."
