Luton Town's new manager Jack Wilshere said after his official appearance that he could not wait to meet the players in person and believed that the team had enough strength to break out of League One and gain a foothold in the Championship.
The former Arsenal midfielder admitted in an interview that he has been studying the team's performance in depth over the past week, but true understanding must come through face-to-face communication and time with the players.
In an interview, Wilshere said: "You can complete 80% of the preparation on paper, but to feel the atmosphere of the team and understand the condition of the players, you have to go into the locker room and talk to them."
"But I think we have a lot of quality players. I believe we have enough to get out of this league and compete in the Championship next season. They know what it takes to be successful and that's the beautiful part for me. I hope to learn from them and absorb that spirit."
Wilshere stressed that the primary goal of the new season is to rebuild the team's confidence, unity and energy, especially at Kenilworth Road, a home ground full of tradition and history.
After completing his media duties, Wilshere immediately went to the team's training base, The Brache, to meet with the players. He plans to officially begin training after the international break. He revealed that he values ensuring his players enjoy the training process, as a positive atmosphere naturally fosters competitiveness and team spirit.
"I want the players to be happy. When I was a player, the coaches who helped me the most were those who made me enjoy training. That happiness becomes motivation and that is the starting point for us to build a winning culture," Wilshere added.
Wilshere's speech was full of passion and conviction. His first priority is to restore Luton's cohesion and confidence. He believes that once the team has quality, passion and unity, they can go far.
