World Cup Qualifier – Depay scores as Netherlands draw 1-1 with Poland


The 2026 World Cup qualifiers in Group G of the European zone continued with a new round of matches. The Netherlands, playing away from home, managed to draw 1-1 with Poland after Depay scored a goal to save the day.


Two minutes into the match, Poland created an opportunity with a cross, but Zalewski's shot from close range went high. In the 6th minute, Kaminski broke through the defense and fired a low shot, but the ball was caught by Dutch goalkeeper Febrügen.


In the 13th minute, Polish midfielder Szymanski suffered an injury and was subsequently replaced by Capeska. In the 23rd minute, the Netherlands launched a counter-attack, with Malen dribbling to the edge of the penalty area before unleashing a long-range shot, but the ball went over the goal. In the 36th minute, Polish defender Kass dribbled past his defender and fired a long-range shot, but it posed no threat.


In the 43rd minute, Lewandowski received the ball and made a through pass from the center circle. Kaminski immediately followed up and entered the penalty area to shoot into the net, giving Poland a 1-0 lead.


In the 47th minute of the second half, Gakopo chipped a pass from the penalty area to the front of the goal, where Malen headed the ball but it was blocked by Polish goalkeeper Grabara. Depay then seized the opportunity to score on the rebound, helping the Netherlands equalize the score at 1-1.

Kaminski received a long pass from his teammate and sprinted into the penalty area to shoot, but the ball was intercepted by Dutch goalkeeper Febrücken. In the 74th minute, the Netherlands substituted Van Hecke and Reindes for Heitlerida and Kluivert. In the 81st minute, Capeska received the ball in the penalty area and shot, but his effort was blocked by Dutch goalkeeper Febrücken.


In the 86th minute, Gakpo received the ball and fired a shot from the penalty area, but it was saved by Polish goalkeeper Grabara. In the 90th minute, Poland attacked from a corner kick, and Lewandowski headed the ball towards goal, but it was caught by Dutch goalkeeper Febrügen.


Ultimately, the Netherlands drew 1-0 with Poland away from home.
