World Cup qualifiers - Alvarez scores as Argentina beat Chile 1-0


Another fierce battle took place in the 15th round of the South American qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup. Argentina, playing away, relied on a goal contributed by Alvarez and finally defeated Chile 1-0.


Three minutes into the game, Chile stole the ball and launched an attack. Sanchez received a pass from Osorio and shot from the top of the penalty area, but was blocked by Argentine goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez. In the fourth minute, Molina, an Argentine defender who plays for Atletico Madrid, passed the ball back to the top of the penalty area. De Paul stepped forward to shoot but kicked the ball high.

In the 67th minute, Messi received a pass from De Paul and entered the penalty area and shot low, but was blocked by the opponent's player and went out of the baseline.


In the 77th minute, Argentina got a free kick, Messi chose to shoot directly, but the ball was caught by Chilean goalkeeper Cortes. In the 83rd minute, Messi sent a straight pass, Giuliano Simeone received the ball and shot from the penalty area, but the ball missed the post.


In the end, Argentina defeated Chile 1-0 away and achieved four consecutive victories.
