Real Sociedad officially announced on Monday that Portuguese winger Gonzalo Guedes has joined the club from Wolves. The two parties have signed a contract until June 30, 2028, with an option for a further one-year extension.

According to various journalists, including Matteo Moretto and Aitor Ere, the base fee for the transfer is €4 million, but if variable clauses are included, Real Sociedad will have to pay a maximum of €6 million.

The 28-year-old Gonzalo Guedes came through Benfica's youth academy and made his first-team debut in the Portuguese Cup on October 18, 2014. He subsequently moved to Paris Saint-Germain and Valencia, winning one Ligue 1 title, one French Cup, two French Super Cups, and one Copa del Rey.

In August 2022, Guedes moved to Wolves for £27.5 million. He made 51 appearances for the club in all competitions, contributing seven goals and six assists. However, he was loaned out to Benfica and Villarreal from the second half of the 2022/23 season.

After completing the transfer, Guedes said: "I have received a warm welcome and everything has made me satisfied so far. I have joined a team that holds high the banner of attacking and is ambitious. This style fits my understanding of football - because I want to reach the highest possible level."
