On the eve of his first season as Inter Milan's first-team coach, Christian Kivu spoke at a press conference about his understanding of the coaching role.
At the press conference, Kivu said: "What I hope I can bring is common sense, calmness and a smile. Not only for me personally, but also for my coaching team."
"We need to maintain real communication with the players, understand them and respect their feelings. People often forget that players are also ordinary people with emotions, troubles and lives."
Kifu stressed that in modern football, technology and tactics are important, but understanding the connection between people is equally important. Kifu said: "I believe in the power of communication. One person can give a lot to another person."
"I spent six years in the youth system. At the beginning I wasn't sure if I was ready, but that time taught me a lot about empathy and helped me understand the world that mature players face."
When asked about what he enjoys most so far, Kivu has no hesitation in mentioning responsibility: “This club has meant a lot to me since 2007 and now that I have taken on the role of first-team coach, I want to repay that trust in every way I can. Responsibility is what drives me to constantly strive for better, and it is also a principle I have always adhered to in life.”
As the new season is about to begin, Kifu showed a clear sense of direction and humble belief: "We have to start again and continue to pursue the top level."
“I know it won’t be easy, but the important thing is to keep growing and always have that desire. For me, no matter what the result is, this is a journey worth investing in and taking on.”
In a world where victory is the metric, Chivu chooses to start from understanding and responsibility. He hopes that such influence can be the key to leading Inter Milan to the next peak.
