After the international match day, Real Madrid will face Real Sociedad away. Coach Xabi Alonso shared the team's current status and future plans.
At the pre-match press conference, Alonso said: "This international match day is generally positive. The most important thing is that everyone comes back healthy. Although the club has more players called up than usual, everyone returned on time and we can refocus on the upcoming schedule."
Talking about the overall state at the beginning of the season, Alonso admitted that the team is still in the adaptation stage. Due to the short summer preparation period, the team needs more consecutive games to run in and establish a system.
Alonso said: "We are still in the process of absorption and consolidation, and there is still a long way to go. We need more games, or a continuous schedule, so that we can make better adjustments. The physical condition has improved compared to the beginning. Now there is a game every three days. We need fresh blood, players who can stand up at any time."
Alonso admitted to feeling a lot of pressure regarding the upcoming race schedule. He pointed out that the next seven races are crucial and every point could have a decisive impact on the entire season: "Every race is crucial, and every point can determine the long-term trend."
"Next up is an away game against Real Sociedad and then a home game against Marseille. Each game presents different challenges and we must be mentally and tactically prepared."
Alonso finally stressed that the short-term goal is to remain competitive through this intensive schedule and to gain a favorable position in the important later stages of the season.
