Italian Super Cup – Neres scores twice as Napoli defeats Bologna 2-0 to lift the trophy.

On December 22, local time, the 2025/26 Italian Super Cup final kicked off at the King Abdul Rahman Stadium in Riyadh. Napoli battled defending champions Bologna for 90 minutes, ultimately winning 2-0 to lift the trophy.

Napoli took the initiative from the start and threatened Bologna in the 10th minute: Scott McTominay played a through ball, and Elgiff Elmas's shot from the left side of the penalty area went just wide of the near post. In the 16th minute, Elmas cut inside from the left and unleashed a shot, which was easily caught by Federico Ravalia. In the 28th minute, Stanislav Lobotka delivered a cross from outside the penalty area, and Amir Rahmani's header was easily caught by Ravalia. In the 37th minute, David Neres played a through ball, and Leonardo Spinazzola's curling shot after breaking into the penalty area was saved by Ravalia.

In the 39th minute, Matteo Politano quickly threw in a long throw-in from the right side of the field, and Neres unleashed a stunning long-range strike to break the deadlock. With Neres' long-range shot finding the net, Napoli went into halftime with a one-goal lead.

After the break, Napoli's attack remained relentless. In the 47th minute, Elmas delivered a through ball from midfield, and Rasmus Hoylen broke into the left side of the penalty area before his low shot was saved by Lavarilla. In the 48th minute, Elmas crossed from the left, and Rahmani's header at the far post was tipped over the bar by Lavarilla. In the 54th minute, Politano's long pass from midfield linked up with the advancing Hoylen, whose shot was again saved by Lavarilla. In the 57th minute, Lavarilla's diagonal pass to John Lucoumi was intercepted by Neres, who decisively chipped the ball into the net to give Napoli another goal.

After that, Napoli missed several good chances. In the 67th minute, Elmas made a run down the middle and played a through ball, but Hoylen's powerful shot from the left side of the penalty area went high and wide. In the 88th minute, Miguel Gutierrez crossed from the left, and Politano's close-range shot went just over the bar. In stoppage time, Politano played a diagonal pass into the penalty area, but Noah Lang's shot towards the bottom left corner failed to find the net.
