Bernard Sousa stated that Crystal Palace possess a strong desire for success, both at the team level and within the club as a whole, and this drive will help them continue their progress in all competitions this season. The Croatian international made his sixth start of the season in the team's 3-0 victory over Liverpool. This win secured Crystal Palace's place in the League Cup quarterfinals, where they will face Arsenal.  

Crystal Palace showed no mercy against a heavily rotated Liverpool squad. Ismaila Sarr scored twice in the first half, and near the end of the match, with Liverpool reduced to ten men, Jeremy Pino added another goal to seal the victory for his team.  

In a post-match interview, Borna Souza said: "It feels great to win 3-0. We all know this is one of the toughest stadiums to play in. Our goal today was very clear: to reach the quarterfinals, and I think we accomplished that very well and played exceptionally well."  

"Of course, we did struggle a bit in the first ten minutes, but we gradually took control of the game. Overall, we controlled the game for most of the time, and the final victory was deserved. You know, when the score is 2-0, there's always a risk. If the opponent pulls back a goal, the second one often comes very quickly. So, 2-0 at halftime is actually a very dangerous score. We anticipated that they would intensify their attack in the second half, so we remained focused, tried to maintain our rhythm, and looked for opportunities to score a third goal, and luckily we did."  

“I think we could have scored more goals, but we are obviously very happy with the result. The whole team is eager to keep scoring, which is what the coach has always asked of us. I think we did that very well today. We scored the first goal, and immediately went for the second. After the second, we tried to get the third. We are developing our own style of play, which is to always move forward and always strive for more goals.”  

"This doesn't mean we lack a good tactical system. On the contrary, I think our strongest system is maintaining organization on offense and making excellent rotations on defense. Therefore, the overall structure is very balanced. Today we showed excellent teamwork, and this victory is very meaningful for us."  

This victory at Anfield means that Crystal Palace will continue their campaign on four fronts this season, including the UEFA League.  

Bonna Sousa added: “We are constantly improving in every competition and strive to approach every match with the highest standards. We’ll see how far we can go in the end. I believe we have the ability and mentality, a very strong squad with many excellent players. I think we have the potential to go much further in all competitions.”  

The player, who joined the South London club from Ajax this summer, said he felt like he was coming home the moment he first put on the Crystal Palace shirt. This sense of belonging has only deepened as he sees the team gaining more and more support from fans.  

He said, "I really can't put words into words how grateful I am to the fans. They mean so much to the team, and the support they've given us from all over the world is incredibly inspiring. This support is invaluable to us, and we hope to repay them with our performance on the field."
