Arsenal captain Martin Ødegaard is expected to be sidelined for at least three weeks after suffering a torn medial collateral ligament (MCL) in his left knee..

Arsenal announced on its official website on Sunday that its captain, Norwegian international midfielder Martin Ødegaard has suffered a torn medial collateral ligament (MCL) in his left knee and is expected to be sidelined for at least three weeks.

According to Arsenal's official statement, Ødegaard will withdraw from Norway's two international matches this month against Israel and New Zealand.

He will remain at the Sobha Realty Training Center during this international break matches to work with the club's medical team and undergo scans, as well as treatment to ensure a quick return.

Ødegaard was injured during Arsenal's 2-0 victory over West Ham United on Saturday.

After 30 minutes, Ødegaard collided with Cryscencio Summerville's knee and was forced to be substituted. This was his third injury of the season.

This injury is a significant blow to both Ødegaard and Arsenal.

With defending Premier League champions Liverpool currently experiencing a slump in form, the Gunners should capitalize on their strong start to the season and secure a strong advantage in the title race.

However, having just returned and performing well in the Champions League match against Olympiakos, Ødegaard's continued absence will undoubtedly hamper Arsenal's strength.

In his absence, new signing Eberechi Eze will be tasked with filling the void left by Ødegaard's absence.
