The Czech Football Association (FAČR) officially announced on Wednesday that Jaroslav Koster will take temporary charge of the national team. His tasks include leading the team in the friendly match against San Marino on November 13 and the European World Cup qualifier against Gibraltar on November 17.

Koster has been Ivan Hašek's assistant coach for the Czech national team since January 2024. He has assisted Hašek in 21 matches in all competitions, with a record of 11 wins, 5 draws and 5 losses.

Prior to joining the Czech national team, Koster served as an assistant coach under Jindřich Trpišovskii at powerhouse Czech clubs such as Viktoria Žižkov, SV Liberec, and Slavia Prague. He also held various management positions, including youth coach and sporting director, at Sparta Prague, Bohemians 1905, Ružomberok, Viktoria Žižkov, SV Liberec, and Slavia Prague, demonstrating his extensive management experience.

Earlier this month, Hašek was officially sacked after the Czech Republic's shock defeat to the Faroe Islands, but Koster stayed with him.

Regarding this appointment, Czech Football Association President David Trenda explained: "The national team training camp in November is rapidly approaching. Maintaining the continuity of the national team is of vital importance to us."

The Czech team currently ranks second in Group L with 13 points, with a record of 4 wins, 1 draw and 2 losses. They must beat Gibraltar in the final round of World Cup qualifiers on November 17 to have a chance to qualify for the European qualifiers of the World Cup in March next year.
