Europa League – Mateta, Mitchell, and Sarr all scored as Crystal Palace cruised to a 3-0 victory over Fiorentina.

In the first leg of the 2025/26 UEFA Europa League quarter-finals, Crystal Palace hosted Fiorentina. They ultimately won 3-0, gaining a significant advantage in the two-legged tie.


In their match against Fiorentina, Crystal Palace dominated from the start. In the 7th minute, Daniel Muñoz crossed from the right, and Jean-Philippe Mateta's header in the box went just wide. In the 18th minute, Muñoz again delivered a cross from the right side of the box, and Evan Guésán's shot went wide of the left.


In the 21st minute, Guessan broke into the penalty area, forcing Dodo to make a sliding tackle and conceding a penalty. Mateta then converted the penalty to give Crystal Palace the lead. In the 31st minute, Crystal Palace continued to extend their lead: Kamada Daichi delivered a cross from the top of the field, and Terrence Mitchell scored on the rebound after Muñoz and Mateta both failed to find the net.


The second half began with both sides switching ends. In the 51st minute, Dodo delivered a cross from the right wing, and Giovanni Fabian, unmarked in the penalty area, volleyed the ball towards goal, but it was denied by the crossbar. In the 58th minute, Jack Harrison crossed from the right wing, and Albert Gudmundsson's header was saved by Dean Henderson. In the 79th minute, Ismaila Sarr crossed from the right side of the penalty area, and Mateta's header at the far post went just wide.


With the match heading into stoppage time, Crystal Palace sealed the victory. In the 90th minute, Daichi Kamada delivered a cross from the right wing at a 45-degree angle, and Sarr headed it into the net. The final whistle blew, with Crystal Palace securing a 3-0 win.
