The Czech Football Association (FACR) announced on Tuesday that it has appointed Pavel Nedved as general manager of the Czech national team. The two parties have signed a four-year contract, which will be valid until June 30, 2029.

Pavel Nedved, 52, is a representative of the Czech "Golden Generation". He has helped Lazio and Juventus win three Serie A titles, one European Super Cup, one European Cup Winners' Cup, two Italian Cups and four Italian Super Cups as a core player in his career. He also won the 2003 European Golden Ball Award, becoming the second Czech player to win the award after Josef Masopust.

As for the national team, Nedved made 91 appearances in his 12-year international career, contributing 18 goals and 9 assists, and won the European Cup runner-up with the team in 1996.

In 2015, Nedved officially became the vice chairman of Juventus. He left in 2022 along with Chairman Andrea Agnelli and others, and went to Saudi Arabia in January to serve as the director of youth sports in Riyadh.

At the press conference, the Czech Football Association announced that Nedved will be fully responsible for the management of the adult national team and the U21 national youth team. David Trenda, president of the Football Association, said: "I am very happy that a Ballon d'Or winner and a successful manager who has worked for a European giant club for a long time has accepted our invitation. I think Nedved's arrival also sends an important signal to the football world: those who have achieved outstanding achievements in their careers are ready to devote themselves to the overall development of Czech football."

Nedved later said: "This job is both an honor and a great responsibility for me. I will take on this responsibility without hesitation and am deeply moved by the clear vision outlined by the Football Association."
