Amadou Onana: I am grateful for the support of the fans, this season has been really great for me

Amadou Onana paid tribute to the fans after Aston Villa's final home game of the season. The Aston Villa fans once again cheered loudly as the team won 2-0 against Tottenham Hotspur.

The win over Tottenham Hotspur marked a club record 18th consecutive Premier League match unbeaten at Villa Park, and saw Aston Villa reach 32 wins in the top flight for the first time.

After the game, head coach Unai Emery, staff and players celebrated together. During the celebration, Amadou Onana met and took photos with the fans, and also completed three fist pump celebrations amid the fans' enthusiastic cheers.

Asked about his relationship with the fans, the midfielder said: “It’s fantastic. I always say it’s my way of showing my gratitude because the fans have always been there for us throughout the season, in good times and bad. We give back and this is my way of saying thank you to them.”

Ezri Konsa broke the deadlock in the 59th minute with a shot from a crowded box after Ollie Watkins headed in. Boubacar Kamara then scored his first goal of the season from the edge of the box to secure his side's third straight win and a clean sheet, and their eighth in nine league games.

This victory will give Aston Villa, who are in good form, 66 points and the club is expected to enter the top five. The last away game next week against Manchester United will bring a perfect end to the season.

Amadou Onana said: "This season has been amazing for me. Even though I've had some injuries, it doesn't change the fact that I've been warmly welcomed here and it feels like home. Everyone is working hard to help me improve and I'm very grateful for this opportunity."

"We have such a strong midfield which makes it more difficult but also reminds you to be on your toes. In order to be in the starting XI you have to play at your best."
